Meet the Mercer Island Muscovies

WHY DO PEOPLE RELEASE THEIR PETS IN PUBLIC PARKS? Nine very tame ducks were dumped at Ellis Park on Mercer Island, where they became the victims of local teenage boys who used them for footballs. Several died. When the neighbors were unable to get any eastside rescue group to help, they called BaaHaus. We were fortunate to catch four of the survivors and bring them to Vashon. Aren't they handsome Muscovy crosses? Muscovies look like a combination turkey/goose, but they really are ducks, the only
duck native to the New World (from South America). They have strange whispery voices and like to wag their tails.
